Palm/Passion Sunday Worship Services

April 28, 2021 - 9 AM and 11 AM

The Palm Parade            Mark 11:1-11

They were looking for answers. So, they went to Jerusalem. They gathered in the streets to make a way for peace. On the other side of the city, there was another procession. Pontius Pilate, governor of Judea, rode into Jerusalem with an army of horses, armored soldiers and waving banners.

On the other side of the city, near the Mount of Olives, Jesus had sent two of his disciples to go into the village and find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it. He instructed them, “If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ just say this, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.'” They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it, some of the bystanders said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” They replied with the answer Jesus had given. “The Lord needs it,” they said.

Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and Jesus sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. Then those who needed answers, those who had come looking for peace, began shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

Holy Thursday/Maundy Thursday

April 1, 2021 - 6 PM

We come together this evening to participate in a simple service of song, scripture, reflection, and Communion.

Call to Worship

The Israelites cried out to God in their oppression.
Their voices still echo around the globe:
in India, Sudan, Mexico, and in American cities.

God hears the cries of the suffering,
and delivers those who wait on God.
All who suffer, who die, who are alienated
are precious to God;

Let us love the Lord who restores liberty,
And gives us hope for peace.

Today we remember the One who gave himself for us,
Jesus the Christ.
Let us worship God!

Prayer of Invocation:

"Jesus, Lamb of God, we bless you today, remembering what you have done for us. You poured out your life to show us the love of God. Today we celebrate your gift of life
as we somberly recall your death and exult in your resurrection."
Amen.

Good Friday Worship Service

April 2, 2021 - 12:00 Noon

We come together in prayer and the reading of scripture as we remember the story of Jesus death. The altar table is bare except for seven candles spaced out evenly on the table. After each scripture reading, music plays and one candle is extinguished until the final candle in the center remains lit. When the speaker says, “Jesus is dead. It is finished.” The center candle which represents Christ is extinguished and we depart in silence.

Easter Sunday

April 4, 2021 - 9 AM and 11 AM

Christ is Risen!

Christ is risen indeed!
Lift up your hearts.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

Invocation:

God of grace and power,
we come rejoicing in Christ’s empty tomb.
We come trusting in the good news
that tells us Christ is with us.
For the Risen Christ is living proof
that You care about our lives, O God.
The Risen Christ offers to us glimpses of hope,
even in our tears.
As the tomb is not quiet.
It speaks. It proclaims!
It is a promise of eternal life!
All:  Thank you, gracious and almighty God. Amen.
