Rev. Sarah TevisTownes

PASTOR SARAH

Rev. Sarah joined the COGS ministry team in January of 2013. She is a graduate of the Pacific School of Religion and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Ministry in partnership with the church.

She is an avid outdoors woman and when time permits, you'll find her rock climbing or hiking. She also enjoys leatherworking, sewing, and beading.

She hosts a popular online ministry on behalf of the church @disorganized.religion on TikTok and appears regularly as a guest on podcasts such as the Word in Black and Red.

Pastor Sarah can be found working, preaching and teaching accompanied by her service dog Molly. Molly is officially "retired," but she still volunteers Sunday mornings. Mango, her service dog in training, regularly attends Bible study and other church events.

Pastor Sarah has served in a wide variety of settings, including as a translator in Mexico and Nicaragua for Westminster Fellowship and a teacher with the Jesuit Volunteers in Pohnpei, Micronesia. She grew up attending a Presbyterian Church in Dallas, TX and Tokyo Union Church in Tokyo, Japan. She discovered the United Church of Christ while in College at Duke University.

Prior to her pastoral call to Church of the Good Shepherd, she served in pastoral roles in the Northern California and Rhode Island Conferences. She recently stepped down as Moderator of the Southwest Conference and now serves on the Committee on Ministry, Section A. She is also a member of PEO, Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority Inc, and the Albuquerque NAACP.
