Several different choirs are involved in presenting music
at the Church of the Good Shepherd:

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir provides anthems for the 11 am worship service and other special services approximately three to four times per month, September through May. Selections vary in style and reflect themes unique to each worship service, as well as serving to challenge and satisfy musical tastes of participants and the congregation.

The Chancel Choir rehearses in the Sanctuary every Thursday evening from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. On Thursdays when the Tenor/Bass Chorale or Treble Ensemble rehearses, Chancel Choir meets from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Tenor/Bass Chorale and Treble Ensemble

The Tenor/Bass Chorale and Treble Ensemble provide anthems for the 11 am service approximately every 3-5 weeks throughout the year.  The repertoire for each ensemble tends to be interesting, challenging, and unique due to the nature of scoring for all treble or all tenor/bass voices. Both ensembles can be heard throughout the summer as well.

Rehearsals are held periodically throughout the year in the Sanctuary on Thursdays  from 6:45 pm to 7:30 pm  before the Chancel Choir rehearsal.

Solos and Small Ensembles

Singers and instrumentalists are invited to present solos, duets, trios, or quartets from time to time throughout the year.  Music is selected for its quality and appropriateness, and represents a variety of genres.  These ensembles are not only a positive experience for the performers, but are enjoyed by the congregation as well.

“Unplugged”  9:oo am Worship

The 9:00 am worship service at COGS is casual, fragrance-free, and “unplugged”, in that mic’s are not used and the worshipers sit near the front and regularly participate.  Music is led by piano, acoustic guitar and bass.  It features many hymns and songs that are singable and are generally familiar to the congregation.  The informal atmosphere fosters an easy and comfortable climate for interacting with others.
