People behind the scenes!
Our pastor and staff are valuable to us, but they are also accountable to the Congregation. We are a congregationally-empowered church, where members collaborate with the pastor, staff, and one another to live into our church’s mission. Our members lead the way as we partner with the Holy Spirit to build a just world, one life at a time.
On May 1, 2015, the Rev. Sarah TevisTownes became our Pastor and Teacher at Church of the Good Shepherd. Her ministry among us began in January 2013 as Pastor of Christian Education and Community Life, following pastoral work in Rhode Island and Northern California. She is an avid rock climber and outdoorswoman who celebrates being a spouse and the parent of two active teenagers. Her Master of Divinity degree is from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California, part of the Graduate Theological Union.
Linda began her work with us in 2008, serving first as Choral Music Director, expanding our choral groups from three to six in a very short time. An accomplished pianist as well as choral conductor, Linda has served churches in Colorado, Virginia and New Mexico. In 2012 she assumed the role of Minister of Music, coordinating our church’s music ministry. She also directs musicals with our children, youth and adults.
Patricia immediately fell in love with the organ as a freshman in college when she played on a pipe organ for the first time. She served as an organist in churches in northern Indiana before moving to Albuquerque in 2016. She joined the music staff at Church of the Good Shepherd in 2017.
Kate has served on the organ bench of a Christian church for more than 50 years. She began her work at Church of the Good Shepherd in 2005, not only playing the organ, but also directing our Joyful Noise Bell Choir. She became Minister of Music in 2008. In 2012 she decided to focus on playing the organ, retiring from her position as Minister of Music.
Dorenda has graced the worship of Church of the Good Shepherd since 2002. Her gifted musicianship adds greatly to the worship life of our church. She accompanies many of our choral groups, rehearsing weekly with the Chancel Choir.
Michelle first served among us as substitute organist, occasionally joining our bell choir as a fill-in ringer. In 2012 the Joyful Noise Bell Choir insisted that she become their new director, and she happily agreed.
Lucien assists with the choir and performs the solo during the 11 am worship service about once a month.
Amanda was hired in the Nursery after some of the High School Students graduated. She is assisted by a High School student so that there are two people looking after the children.
