Getting Connected
Finding your place in a new church can be intimidating! Here at Church of the Good Shepherd, UCC, getting involved is super easy! Find a group(s) that interest you and get started. All are welcome here!
Make a Difference
When you attend COGS, your part of a dynamic congregation with a rich history and an exciting ministry in the community. 2023 marks our 64st year! Chartered in 1959, Church of the Good Shepherd was founded in the early days of the United Church of Christ.
Bible Study
Adult education and spiritual growth are key parts of our ministry at COGS. Weekly Bible Study with Pastor Sarah every Tuesday. All are welcome at 11 AM in-person at COGS or on Zoom.
Community Outreach
Following Christ’s example, our congregation strives to create a more inclusive, welcoming, and just world. At the local level, our Ministry of Justice and Community Interface coordinates with local Outreach Partners.
Contemporary Theology
Contemporary Theology discussion group meets every Sunday at 9:30 AM. Timely and relevant discussions center around book selections chosen by the group. Visit the Contemporary Theology page for information on current book.
Music at COGS
Music at COGS is an important part of our worship services. Choirs include the Chancel Choir, Tenor/Bass Chorale, and Treble Ensemble. Our Bell Choir performs at least one piece each month during the 11:00 am service.
Youth Group
Our sixth through 12th-grade youth gather for special outings, participate in service projects, and participate in worship in many ways; running the sound system, working the slides, playing music, ushering, offering prayers, and reading scripture
COGS Kids
Children are welcome at COGS, and we encourage parents to bring children of all ages to our worship services. Infant and pre-school care is available, with Sunday School for kids ages 5-12.
COGS Book Club
The Book Group meets the third Monday of each month from 6:00-8:00 PM. Participants enjoy a potluck meal, excellent books, and stimulating conversation.
Sacred Connections
The Sacred Connection group's mission is to provide a supportive environment of space and time in which people can experience the presence of God, connect with others and explore the sacred within.
Dinners for Eight
Dinners for Eight is a great way to get to know fellow church members better. The group meets in various homes once a month. Couples and individuals are encouraged to register.

Group FAQs
How do I get involved in a group?
Find a Group or Groups you're interested in. We've provided contact information on each Group page for you to receive more information. Some groups meet weekly, others once a month, while many of our Community Outreach initiatives are ongoing or occur sporadically. Our team leaders will be happy to discuss options with you.
Can I start a new group?
Members of COGS who are interested in starting a new Group are welcome to discuss your idea with Pastor Sarah and our Council Moderator.
How often do groups meet?
Our Bible Study, Contemporary Theology, and Kids Groups meet weekly. Youth groups meet at various times as activities are planned. Community Outreach varies with each initiative and the organizations we are supporting. Our Calendar of Events will typically announce these and often there are voluntary sign-ups at church.
