Youth in Worship
Our youth participate in worship in many ways: running the sound system, working the slides, playing music, ushering, offering prayers, and reading scripture.
Events & Outings
Youth at COGS regularly participate in intergenerational church events, including trips to the zoo, Isotopes baseball games, girls’ night at the Lobos, tours of museums, hikes, miniature golf, rock climbing, campouts, movies, bike rides, and park clean-ups.
Service & Outreach
We believe serving the community is integral to developing the Christian faith. Our youth regularly participate with our service partners: Family Promise, Project Share, East Mountain Food Pantry, and others. They cook meals, raise money to stop hunger, tutor students, and host homeless guests.
COGS Youth Travel to US/Mexico Border
COGS youth and adults, including Pastor Sarah, spent several days at Casa De La Misericordia y de Todas las Naciones in Nogales, Mexico, last week. Casa De La Misericordia y de Todas las Naciones is a shelter that serves migrants from across Central and South America and migrants and those fleeing violence from locations worldwide. Casa de la Misericordia serves as a beacon of hope, safety, love, and family for people who make the traumatic and dangerous trip for a chance to start a new life in the United States. You can learn more about the shelter and its mission in an interview with the shelter Director, Alma Angelica Macias Mejia.
COGS Youth Baptism & Confirmation Service 2020
Due to the COVID crises, our youth graduating from confirmation class in 2020 were unusually creative in designing their baptism service.
They wanted a water baptism, yet with COVID it needed to take place outdoors. The Confirmation and baptism begin at 9:18 on the video and continues through 25.11. ENJOY!
